David O’Neil is a full-time resident of Carmel-by-the-Sea whose connection to the town was shaped over a lifetime of visits before he ever lived here. Those years gave him a deep appreciation for Carmel’s architecture, landscape, and strong sense of community. That perspective was further refined while David was living in France, where he owned and restored a historic château, opening it to the public and working closely with local communities. The experience reinforced his belief in thoughtful stewardship—balancing preservation, public access, and economic vitality—something he has long admired in Carmel-by-the-Sea. David shares those values with his husband, William O’Neil, an entrepreneur who grew a shipping and moving company into a multi-state operation. William focused on giving back, sharing profits with employees and helping many build their own businesses so they could become more prosperous and independent. Now living full time in Carmel, David is actively involved in civic life and volunteers with several local organizations including serving on the boards of the Carmel Woman’s Club, Pacific Repertory Theatre and the American Cancer Society. He brings a kind, collaborative approach and a long-term perspective, guided by respect for the community and a genuine desire to contribute to its future.
